  • Why should I buy an e-bike?
The question should be, why not buy an e-bike? They don’t require an MOT, tax, driving licence or motor insurance. They don’t need fuel to work and can be charged anywhere. If your battery runs out, you still have your pedal power. They are great for any level of fitness because the boost is there when you need it. We keep our prices low and value high. Riding an e-bike as an alternative to a car, motorcycle or public transport is cost effective and reduces your carbon footprint. It is also a terrific way to boost your mental and physical wellbeing.
  • Is using an e-bike less effective for fitness than regular bikes?
The Department of Sport, Exercise and Health at the University of Basel looked at 30 overweight volunteers, half of whom were set the task of riding an e-bike at least 6km, three days a week. The other half of the group were to ride traditional bicycles. The study found, “training with an e-bike is by no means less effective but has comparable health benefits as regular bicycling. Furthermore, the researchers found that even after a short training period of four weeks improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness were achieved.” E-bikes are ideal for riders who no longer have the fitness that they may have once had or even the physical ability anymore. E-bikes are there for a boost when you need it, enabling you to go further, faster which a normal bike cannot do.
  • Why buy an e-Bike over an e-car?
An e-car will take the same space in traffic as a standard petrol/diesel car. Sat at the lights, you could fit four bikes, side by side, in the same space as a car. Even in a typical car sharing system this allows twice as many people per car space in the traffic. That will arguably take 2-3 cars off the road with that density of cyclists. According to the RAC, there are around 31.2 million cars on UK roads. Only 200,000 are electric, or around 0.6% of the UK car fleet. Most people looking to buy an e-bike will be those looking to replace a petrol or diesel car.
  • Cycling to Work- Can I get money off?
There will be improvements to the Cycle to Work Scheme, which currently allows employees to save between 25-47% on buying a bicycle. The Department of Transport is now enabling taxpayers to buy bikes at even better discounts and working with employers currently to make better provisions for commuters. If you have ever felt that commuting to work from home is too much of a stretch, that you’d arrive to work too hot and bothered. If you believe that an E-Bike is slightly out of your price bracket, the cycle to work scheme is a perfect solution. With the cycle to work scheme improving and the extremely reasonable price of our bikes, commuting to work on an E-Bike has never been more appealing, especially if you need that extra push to get you going that extra mile. If you want to know more about how this scheme works and how we can be of assistance, please get in touch and we can discuss how we can get you and your company set up!
  • Do I need a license to ride an electric bike on the road?
No, treat it the same as a regular bike. You will only ever need a license if you exceed the specified specification of EU law. All our electric bikes can be used anywhere without the need for a license. No tax, insurance, or MOT either!
  • How long does it take to recharge the battery?
All our electric bikes use lithium ion battery packs. These packs recharge very quickly compared to others on the market. You can also charge our batteries from a USB port, so you can even recharge it at your desk.
  • How fast will electric bikes go?
All electric bikes are governed by law to an assisted speed of 15mph. You, can of course, pedal the bike faster, however you will be using your own pedal power as the assistance will drop off at 15mph.
  • Why should I ride electric bikes?
Electric bikes are many things to many people, some use them as a vital tool for commuting, saving fuel, cutting transport costs and time. Some people enjoy recreational rides and go out traveling all day without the aggravation of steep hills. Many customers who have enjoyed cycling in the past but either through injury or aging, find steep hills or distance more of a challenge, e-bikes give them an extra boost when needed. On the other extreme we have hardcore mountain bikers using an electric bike to beat up lifts. Of course, whatever you ride up you get to hurtle back down. You can get a lot more use in a day and cover more ground on an electric bike.
